Clyde is a 6 year old silver male. Clyde was not handled much in his previous home and is not too sure about people in general. Due to his lack of handling, he has developed a habit of biting out of fear. Clyde has started to make progress and will only bite when he is startled or when he doesn't want to be held. Clyde has recently been diagnosed with both adrenal disease and insulinoma. Due to ongoing health concerns, Clyde will remain in his foster home.
Sadly Clyde lost his best friend Bonnie. Bonnie was a 6 year old silver blaze female. Bonnie will be greatly missed by Clyde and her foster family.
Caspian is a 4 year old silver male, he is a sweet and gentle boy but can be aggressive if he chooses, which is rare.
Caspian loves playing with his friend Willow and enjoys juggling the play tube that the other ferrets go through. Caspian enjoys eating Bandit and N Bone treats, loves being outside and splashing in the water.
Caspian has a very enlarged spleen and being he is overweight does have some breathing issues. He gets around very well and can manage climbing the stairs on his own, but does need to have rest breaks after exerting himself physically. Caspian cannot be caged as it is difficult for him to go up and down ramps and turn around in the small spaces of cages. This guy needs lots of exercise and room to move around.

Snookie is a 5 year old albino female. Snookie was surrendered to FRES as her family was unsure how to deal with her behavioural issues. Her foster family is working with her to sort out what causes her to bite and is positive that she will soon learn how to interact with humans. Due to Snookie's behavioural issues, she will only be available for adoption to a forever home with previous experience to continue working on these problems with her. Snookie has been diagnosed with adrenal disease and is receiving monthly lupron injections.
Sadly Snookie has lost her friends Chester, Frankie and Vinnie since being surrendered to FRES. Chester was a 4.5 year old blaze male, Vinnie was a 4.5 year old sable male and Frankie was a 6 year old DEW male. Chester, Frankie and Vinnie will be greatly missed by their foster home and all who knew them.
Ricky is a 4 year old albino male and Lucy is a 3 year old sable female (ages approximate). Ricky and Lucy were found together living under a shed in NE Calgary. Luckily the homeowners called FRES and a volunteer headed out to pick them up the day before another snowfall came. Ricky and Lucy don't appear to have been handled much prior to coming to FRES but have come a long way thanks to their foster family. Lucy is more timid than her friend Ricky and will run and hide at any loud sounds. Ricky and Lucy are a very gentle pair of ferrets who would make an excellent addition to any home.
Luke is a 3 year old dark sable male, Gus is a 3 year old sable male and Frenchie is a 3.5 year old sable male. Luke came to FRES when his owners couldn't afford to pay for a surgery to remove a life threatening blockage. He recovered well from his surgery and has become best of friends with his roomies Gus and Frenchie. Both Gus and Frenchie were found (separately) wandering the streets of Calgary before finding a home with FRES. Gus and his friends Luke and Frenchie have a lot of energy and they can often be found romping around together.
Gus, Luke and Frenchie have been exposed to a highly contagious virus and will only be available for adoption to a home with no other ferrets at this time. Gus has also been diagnosed with adrenal disease and is currently receiving monthly lupron to manage this.
Baby Lucy is a 4 year old sable female ferret and Bella is a 3.5 year old silver female. Baby Lucy was rescued from a pet store after she was deemed unsellable as she is blind. She has likely suffered psychological trauma from being confined with more aggressive ferrets and people now knowing how to handle these issues.
Baby Lucy startles very easy from a variety of normal household sounds. She can have uncontrollable shakes and tremors. If Baby Lucy feels she is being attacked by another ferret she gets hysterical and hisses and tries to attack back. She can bite very hard so you have to be careful how you comfort her when this happens.
Baby Lucy enjoys chicken baby food and flax oil. She also likes ferretone in her water. She has a very quiet foster home and room to run around in a safe environment when she is willing. She has variety of baby toys which seem to comfort her also.
Baby Lucy is very scared of other ferrets and is just learning how to be a ferret herself. She is a very gentle ferret and is satisfied to just sleep a lot or be held for hours at a time. It is amazing to be able to cuddle such a sweet ferret for lengthy periods of time.
Baby Lucy does require daily baths as she ends up walking through her litter regularly. Due to Baby Lucy's fragile state and the special care needed for her daily, she will remain in her foster home and is not available for adoption. For information on how to donate funds toward her care, please contact us.
Bella is a very sweet little girl whose owner was going to set her free to roam the streets of Calgary. Thankfully one of our volunteers came to her rescue and she is now settling into a fabulous foster home and learning what is really is like to be a ferret. Bella has taken fellow foster ferret Baby Lucy under her wing and can often be found following her everywhere she goes. Bella and Baby Lucy have bonded in a way that not even their foster home ever expected and will remain together in their foster home.
Amy is an approximately 5 year old sable female. Amy is very aggressive with other ferrets and definitely prefers to be the only ferret in the home. Amy has issues trusting the humans in her foster home and will show her disapproval by biting. She has been improving with time but it takes quite a while to earn her trust. Amy loves her chicken baby food and chicken Pure Bites treats.
Soups is a 4 year old dark sable female who was living in a bad situation prior to coming to FRES. We believe she may have been exposed to various drugs in her short life and that they have had an adverse affect on her overall health. While Soups has made some definite improvements, she will need ongoing special care to help her become the ferret she should be. For this reason, Soups will live out her life in her foster home.
Diana is a 3 year old silver blaze female. As with many ferrets with a blaze, Diana is deaf. Diana does startle fairly easily so care needs to be taken to help make her feel safe and secure in her home. Diana is very afraid of other ferrets (no matter how gentle they are) and will attack them before they can get her. Diana would do best in a quiet home where her humans can spend loads of time with her and as the only ferret princess in the home.
Due to ongoing medical issues, Diana will remain in the care of her foster home.
Bandit is a 4 year old dark sable male, Smokey is a 4 year old dark sable male and Rikku is a 6 year old light sable female. These three are full of energy and love to play. Bandit, Smokey and Rikku have all been diagnosed with adrenal disease and they have each received a deslorelin implant to manage this.
Mimi is a 4 year old dark sable female. Mimi is very aggressive towards any ferrets and would do best in a home where she can rule the roost.

Shadow is a 5.5 year old sable female. Shadow is a small little girl and when scared she has a tendency to bite. Shadow's transition to her foster home has been very stressful for her as she had been with her family since she was a kit. Shadow loves ferretone and chicken chew sticks.
Shadow is a very playful little girl and seems to get along well with cats but is very frightened of other ferrets. Shadow loves hiding stuffed toys and ladies shoes. She enjoys a nice comfortable cage with lots of soft blankets and hammocks.

Bean is approximately 3.5 year old and is a sable male and Teacup is a 3 year old cinnamon female. Bean was living outside in a cage when his owners realized that winter here gets way too cold for him to be able to stay out all year round. Thankfully a FRES volunteer was able to come to his aid and get him into the care of FRES. Bean was also being forced to switch over to a raw diet prior to his surrender and he was extremely thin as he just didn't understand that he was supposed to eat that raw chicken. Bean has been happily munching away on his kibble and has quickly gained weight. Bean has become best of friends with his fellow foster ferret Teacup. Teacup loves to run full speed through tubes and so far this is her favorite game to play. Bean has been diagnosed with adrenal disease and is receiving monthly lupron.

Garcia who is the youngest of the trio is the most laid back and loves to snuggle with his humans. These three would be best suited to a forever home that has some previous ferret experience.
Due to some ongoing health issues we are monitoring with De Niro, these three are temporarily unavailable for adoption.

Biggie is a 1 year old badger mitt male. Biggie came to FRES when his owners couldn't afford to pay for surgery to remove a foreign body that he had ingested. He has recovered very well from surgery and is ready to find his forever home. Biggie is a very energetic young boy who needs a home with expert level ferret proofing to keep him out of trouble. He loves to climb and jump and can get to places most ferrets wouldn't even consider. Biggie would do best in a home with other gentle ferrets who can help him burn off all that energy he has. Since Biggie can get into things most ferrets don't, we recommend a home where he will be caged when he isn't being supervised. Biggie is a young boy and will require lots of out of cage time too.
Due to ongoing issues with Biggie, he is now listed as a long term foster.
Olaf is a 3.5 year old sable male. When Olaf came to FRES he had very thin hair, he was quickly diagnosed with adrenal disease and has since been given the deslorelin implant and has grown back a nice healthy coat of hair.
Olaf is a pretty gentle boy and has become friends with his foster brother Caspian. Olaf enjoys being outside, snorkeling in water, eating freeze dried chicken, dragging rugs and toys backwards with his teeth.
Olaf is an award winning ball pusher and can even manoeuver a small ball around over the grass with his nose for an extended period of time.
Loki is a 1.5 year old sable male. Loki wasn't handled too much before he came to FRES and does need work on his manners as he does bite. He has a lot of energy and loves to run around playing and gets along well with other gentle ferrets. Loki's foster home has noticed that being allowed to free roam has improved his biting behaviour. Loki's forever home will need to have experience working with severe biters and be able to allow him to free roam.
Abby is a 2 year old sable female and Hagrid is a 1.5 year old dark sable male. These two enjoy wrestling, playing in water and snow and in their tubes and love digging in a rice bucket when not sleeping. Both are high energy ferrets, especially Abby.
Abby is a very energetic little girl, no shelf is too high for her climb, nothing is off limits to Abby, so ferret proofing must be up to par. Since Abby can get into so many things, it is best to cage her when she is not being supervised. Abby still needs lots of out of cage time to play and burn off that excess energy. Abby can sneak out of an open door before anyone even knows she is gone, she is very fast.
Abby has been diagnosed with adrenal disease and has received the deslorelin implant.
Hagrid has just recently undergone surgery for a cancerous tumor to be removed, unfortunately the tumor quickly grew back. Hagrid is under medical observation and not available for adoption at this time.

Jasmine is a very sweet little girl and has 2 favourite stuffed toys that she carries around with her everywhere, a parrot and snake. Snickers is agile and can get over some barriers and into trouble! Snickel-Fritz is the distinguished man of the group but still likes to play a game of chase with Snickers. These three are bonded and can most often be found sleeping in a big pile together.

Forrest is a 1.5 year old sable male and Sierra is a 1.5 year old sable female. Forrest is a quirky little fellow who loves to scoot backwards, hide treats, and has the unusual habit of crawling on top of play tubes instead of going through them. He is also incredibly good at standing on his hind legs for long periods of time, especially when he thinks there may be treats available.
Sierra is very high energy and quite nervous around people still. She has, however learned to come running when called with kissy noises and is making very good progress with her litter training. She is very food reward driven and has now overcome enough fear that she will climb onto her foster mom's lap to get treats, and will occasionally even stay there long enough to eat them.
Both ferrets came in as very aggressive biters however Forrest has made dramatic improvements and bites can generally be avoided by handling him with caution and not startling him. Sierra has made some progress and will tolerate slightly more handling than when she first arrived. However, this tolerance only applies to being picked up out of her cage and carried short distances with no easy access to fingers, in most cases she will bite if given the opportunity.
Forrest and Sierra are only available to be adopted by a family who has previous experience working with severe biters.
Rocko is a 1.5 year old sable male. Rocko is a very sweet boy who is gentle with other ferrets and definitely loves to spend time with his foster mom and dad.
Rocko had an Osteosarcoma (bone tumor) on his front leg. To reduce the risk of the cancer spreading, FRES had to make the decision (in consultation with our vet) to amputate his leg. Unfortunately recent examinations show that the cancer has spread to Rocko's lungs. Rocko will remain unavailable for adoption and will remain in his foster home.
Vander is an 8 year old light sable male. Vander is a very gentle and sweet boy who is loving his new life living with some other very gentle and laid back ferrets. Bare legs and toes are no match for Angie especially, even socked feet are in jeopardy of getting a nibble from her, it is all part of the play.
Ace has been diagnosed with adrenal disease and also has arthritis in his back legs. Lots of exercise keeps him limber though. Ace and Angie are a real fun loving pair of playful ferrets, very entertaining.
