Current Ferrets Available for Adoption

FRES does not guarantee the availability of ferrets on the adoption page. We encourage anyone interested in adopting to apply immediately and let us know which ferret(s) you are interested in. Please also see our FOSTER PAGE for additional ferrets in our care, who may become available for adoption at a later date.

Why don't we have many ferrets for adoption? Simply speaking, younger animals are more desirable to adopt (we do on occasion get younger ferrets available) and few people are interested in adoption older, and often medical, ferrets,  We are always open to consider foster homes for our fosters, and would consider adoption of older ferrets under our foster page to the right, experienced, home.

THE FOLLOWING FERRETS ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

Onyx - Single/Male/~4yrs

Welcome Onyx to the Rescue.  He arrived in late 2024, and is believed to be around ~4 years old.

Onyx arrived as a single, and is an incredibly sweet boy - he is a joy to be around as a human - he is cuddly, kind and oh so fluffy. He has a wonderful personality with humans and is quite playful (his favourite toy being tubes with other friends inside), but also a super chill boy - he will let you carry him around and cuddle.

He does have minor cataracts (seen by a specialist), which contribute to having poor eyesight, although he does have some vision and is not completely without sight.  There is no current medical management of this, nor does it appear to impact his ability to navigate his environment. This could be contributing to his behaviour with other ferrets. He does show some "A" type personality around other ferrets, and has a tendency to want to dominate.

He also currently has a deslorelin implant for treatment of adrenal and to support curbing his need to dominate.  He has gained good weight (coming in severely malnourished) and has a beautiful coat.

We are open to adoption inquiries and applications for him.

ADOPTEES COMING SOON!

Forrest

Forrest will be available for adoption in the new year.  You can see his bio here
