Bubba (Marked white) came to FRES in 2022 with his best friend Finn (rainbow bridge) when they were approximately 2 years old, he’s a sweet and affectionate solo guy.
He loves socks and will most likely try to bite them if you’re walking by him. He’s playful and he really loves his tubes and bean dig box. He would most likely do really well as a solo ferret whose family spoils him with kisses and a real cozy hammock, he would be suitable for a household with or without older children.
His best friend passed away a few months ago which he has struggled with a bit but he is slowly returning to his extra affectionate self! Unsure if he would accept a new friend.
He appears to have low sight abilities and he has adrenal disease which is being managed with monthly lupron injections, and melatonin every 4-6mo (Will need to carry on with this treatment for life). He is not a candidate for the Des implant. He had dental work done in the summer of 2022.
Poppy is an adventurous 5 year old dark eyed white with a black smattering (marked white) who came to FRES in 2023. She loves to climb and "stash" toys (her stash points are more like piles in small open areas!) and occasionally try to jump, but these are failures at best. This sassy girl is partially blind, but doesn't let that slow her down; in fact, it gives her avery unique look as she has the biggest eyes!
She loves to just be around and will often come sit or stand between our feet; this can be dangerous for her as she also moves like a ghost and is super silent. We've had to adapt to her and have learned to look down before moving. While not behavioural, Poppy will nip pretty hard at play time if she wants to try and drag you or roll your hand like a ferret. She doesn't pierce skin, but those jaws are powerful! She enjoys roughhousing with her foster dad and war dances and dooks when he does.
Given the opportunity, she would eat paper, cardboard and pee pads, so her owner needs to be very diligent with her environment. She loves her AllerG-3 oil and is currently under care for adrenal disease and insulinoma (monthly Lupron and high-concentration Pred). She will not eat freeze-dried duck, chicken or beef liver, eggs or any other straight protein and doesn't seem to recognize them as food.
She's a loving little girl who has yet to bond with any potential friends, despite attempts to do so, as she had just lost her cage mate before coming to FRES.
Poppy requires a home that is experienced with ferrets, specifically one that understands the special needs of a ferret with her meducal conditions as well as a family who can be loving and patient with her play time nips.
She is not recommended for a family with children or other animals.
